Russian DX Claimed Scores Show RW3QC Heading For Repeat Win; Clearer WRTC 2010 Battles

The official release of claimed scores from the 2009 Russian DX Contest shows Jack Danielyan RW3QC, who operated as 5B4AII from Cyprus, with a commanding lead in the Single Operator High Power Mixed category, as he looks to repeat his win of 2008.

Danielyan totaled 14.2 million points in his RDX claimed score, giving him an almost three million point lead over Andy Kotovsky UU4JMG.

The top score inside Russia for single ops came from the East, as Oleg Usov UA9CDV checked in with just over 8 million points.

The race was much closer in the low power category, with Vitaly Udod UT7NW ran up 3.45 million points from Ukraine, giving him about a 300k lead over RQ9I, who was the top LP claimed score from Russia.

Ukraine also has the top score for now in Multi-Single, with UZ2M in the lead with 17.6 million points. P33W was second at 15.9 million.

The Multi-Two category lead is safe in the hands of Team 4Z5J in Israel, who tallied just over 19 million points. RW2F had the best M-2 score in Russia at 9.6 million.

While those scores are important, the subtext of this year's Russian DX contest was that it was the final qualifying event for stations outside of Russia.

In the US, Randy Thompson K5ZD solidified his spot in the Russia 2010 WRTC with the top claimed score from NA #1 of 4.89 million.

Also likely getting the full 910 points was Andy Blank N2NT, who went on the road to the Carribean and posted the top score in Central America from V47NT at 6.3 million.

That means both men gained ground on Jeff Briggs K1ZM, who hosted a multi-single at his QTH. With the top score in NA #1, that would give him 819 points, more than John Crovelli W2GD will earn from the K9RS multi-single that he was involved in, which finished at 4.02 million.

WRTC Russia 2010 - Europe

The high finish by Andy Kotovsky UU4JMG could help the Ukranian contester clinch a berth in the 2010 WRTC.

Kotovsky finished 2.5 million points ahead of EU #4 leader Hrane Milosevic YT1AD. In between them was Ranko Boca 4O3A, insuring that he will pick up a decent amount of WRTC points as well.

Others who used RDXC 2009 to bolster their positions in WRTC qualifying included Tonno Vahk ES5TV in EU #3, Ladislav Vegh OM2VL in Eu #2 and Jacques Saget F6BEE in EU #1.

While qualifying is over for much of the world, Russian stations still have one chance to get more points in this year's RRTC, to be held the week after the IARU test in July.
