Growing bigger every year, the 14th running of the EU HF Championships will again try to set a new record this year for logs received, even as sunspot conditions reach the bottom of the cycle.
"I have not missed it since 1995," says Ged Lucinskas LY3BA, who won the Mixed Low Power category last year, operating as LY9A from Lithuania.
"I like this contest because one can have fun with quite modest equipment and antennas," says Lucinskas. "Also, I very much like the national competition, because it stimulates activity."
The past two years, Russian operators have won the national competition, with the Lithuanians like LY3BA coming in second.
As for who has the advantage in this contest, last year Russian ops won two of the six single operator categories.
Alexey Mikhailov RA1AIP used the RU1A contest station to help him to win the Mixed High Power category, while Valery Komarov RD3AF won the CW High Power battle as RD3A.
"I think the EU HF Championshiop provides possibilities for winning in any part of the continent," says Lucinskas LY3BA.
All time records were set in five of the six categories last year, with only SSB low power staying the same. In all, the Slovenian Contest Club received 673 logs in 2006, with low power CW the favorite of over a third of those participating in the contest.
One unique item about this contest is that included with the results on the SCC web site are the UBN and NIL reports for every station.
The results also summarize the "bad" percentage score reduction, giving you a further way to measure yourself against other contesters.
High Power Mixed scores can be seen here along with the "bad" figures and the UBN/NIL reports, which can be accessed by clicking on the calls in the EUHC results.
